Pamela Conner Starke

I took care of my father while my mother worked until he passed away in 1993. Went to Hillyard to earn a degree in business management. I also took care of my mother until she passed away in 2007. Mostly I take care of two of my grandchildren, do crafts, and help build wood furniture for my own use.

I wasn't sure about going to the Brown Bear for the reunion but am really glad I did. It was so great to see Kathy, Phyllis and Julie after all the years that passed. Sandy, I used to see you alot when I worked for the credit union and I remember all the great gifts and snacks you would bring for the Christmas Season.

A lot has happened since the reunion. My husband and his son, who he hadn't seen for about 7-8 years finally contacted him and we all got together at Barbosa's for supper where we met his wife, son, and baby daughter. His wife and I have been e-mailing every since. Still remodeling the house and it is beginning to look really nice. We were blessed with a new great-grandson in July, and had a close friend lose her 6 week old granddaughter in August. My husband and I now have 5 great-grandchildren and 15 grandchildren between the two of us. Love them all.

One of the things I remember about high school was the fact that when I turned 16, I could quit. My dad told me about how he had to quit school during his 8th grade year to go to work to help pay for surgery that his younger brother needed to stay alive. He made me promise not to quit but to graduate and make him proud. I kept my promise and did graduate. I also went to business college for a certificate. Got married and had kids. I later went to Hillyard Technical Center and got another certificate. I also remember all the friends that I had in school and miss them a lot.
